Do your holiday celebrations include giving back to your community? Think about ways your family could share their blessings with others. Perhaps you could volunteer to help serve the meal at the homeless shelter, make tray favors for a local nursing home, or help pack the food boxes for the needy at your local church or community center. Remember, your volunteer efforts are needed and appreciated throughout the year, not just at the holidays.
“Let us more and more insist on raising funds of love, of kindness, of understanding, of peace. Money will come if we seek first the Kingdom of God – the rest will be given.” — Mother Teresa

I have learned in my own life that achieving physical, mental and spiritual balance is possible but not a once and for all kind of thing. It is more like walking a balance beam.
If you watch a gymnast you will notice she makes subtle shifts in balance to stay on the beam. So it is with life.
To live a balanced life we make subtle changes as required. At first there may be very big, noticeable changes. But as time goes on the shifts become so natural and so much a part of daily life we may not even notice them.
I have just published my new e-book Have Yourself a Healthy Little Holiday. It includes non-food celebration ideas, menu planning, cooking and baking tips along with over 20 recipes emphasizing whole foods with gluten-free, dairy free, low-fat and reduced sugar options.
Out of gratitude for the support and encouragement of friends, family and blog followers I am making this e-book available free for a limited time. To receive yours go to Smashwords now and enter Coupon Code: ZF38M when you get to checkout. This special offer will end on November 14th. This e-book will still be available after the 14th but it will no longer be free.
Feel free share this with your friends, family, blog readers or members of your social networks. Word Press bloggers may want to “reblog.”
kids coming from the school! (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Don’t you get tired of hearing people claim everything they own and have accomplished is their own doing with no help from anyone? It does take a village to raise a child and to keep adults on track. Bonnie Estes was part of the village that raised me.
Miss Estes was my grade school principal. She lived across the street from the school and took great pride not only in “her school,” but also in “her kids.” While I guess you would call Miss Estes “strict” by today’s standards she was also kind. She kept track of us long after graduation and took pride in our accomplishments.
Why do I remember Miss Estes who passed on long ago? She taught me one woman can make a difference, and I will never forget.
