Espirational Books — We need your help

English: books
English: books (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

You may have noticed we now have a bookstore.  (Click the tab at the top of the page to check it out.)  Many people use books as tools for daily life and we hope you will use the bookstore when looking for spiritual, inspirational, positive thinking and healthy living books and gift items.

We will continue to work on adding new books.  This is where you can help.

1.  If there is a book you would like to see in the bookstore let us know so we can consider it.

2.  If you are a regular reader or follower of the Espirational blog and the author of a spiritual, positive thinking or healthy lifestyle book available on Amazon (including the Kindle Store) please let us know.  We are setting up an Espirational Friends page to share books written by our blog friends.  April,  I’ve got Sacred Pauses already, you were the first one who came to mind.  Sloan, I just added Taming the Invisible Dragon.

3.  We are also looking for inspirational music so if you have a CD or DVD available on Amazon that conveys a positive message or could be used as meditation music please let us know.  Mike Howe, do you have anything that would fit here?

If you can help us with any of these, please leave us a note in the comment section below.

Thanks for you help!  Enjoy browsing the bookstore.

A Gift of Eagles

Yesterday we went to one of favorite nature spots, an old railroad bridge converted to a pedestrian bridge over the Platte River.  This is one of those hidden gems you have to know about or discover by accident.  It had been awhile since we had been there last and on this day we were there alone with God, His creation.

As we walked toward the end of the bridge I noticed two large birds sitting in a tree.  We stood watching and hoping the birds would fly so we could tell better what they were.  But they just sat there.  We were getting ready to move on when I saw an eagle circling in the sky.  Then there was another, and another, moving in and out of our sight.  Then one drew close, circled the tree and landed.  After awhile another and then another landed in the tree making five eagles in the tree.

We finally turned around to walk back down the bridge to the path to our car.  About halfway across the bridge there were eagles lined up on the railing on both sides of the bridge.  At first I was a little uneasy, feeling like we were about to walk the gauntlet, but as we continued to walk the most amazing thing happened.  As we approached each bird they left the railing, circled over the bridge and landed on a sand bar in the river.  After we got back home Bob said it looked like a very intentional ceremony, and it did.

We had never seen eagles at that location before.  You could say this was just a coincidence, a chance encounter, but we see it as a gift from God.  Unfortunately I forgot the camera so there are no photos, but we have memories that will be with us the rest of our lives.  Thank you God!

Celebrating Small Things: The Sneeze that Scared the Geese

Recently while Bob and I were on our morning walk around the lake, I exploded with a sharp, high pitched sneeze.  I immediately heard a splash and looked around to make sure a fisherman had not been startled and fallen in the lake.  My next thought was, that must have been a big fish that made that much noise jumping.  Finally I saw who had been scared by my sneeze.  A goose standing in the water, wings spread and flapping.

I started laughing and said, “I sneezed and scared the geese.”  Then Bob started laughing and we laughed the rest of the walk to the car.  It has been said that I have a laugh that sounds like a flock of geese.  Now I can also lay claim to a sneeze that scares them.

Don’t forget to drop by Scribblings of an Aspiring Author to see what other people are celebrating.

“Humility of heart is the capacity just to be for the sake of God…One way of entering into this fundamental Christian attitude is to learn once again what it means just to be – to allow ourselves to rest before God with the being he gave us, with no other intention, effort, or purpose, except to surrender that being back to him. This is the orientation of contemplative prayer and the ultimate purpose of every genuine spiritual exercise.” ~ Thomas Keating, Heart of the World

“There are four ways you can handle fear. You can go over it, under it, or around it. But if you are ever to put fear behind you, you must walk straight through it. Once you put fear behind you. Leave it  there.”  ~Donna Favors
