DEFINING CORE VALUES
In my perspective, it’s important to be able to articulate our core values—the things we embrace that keep our internal compass pointing north:
1. I practice intentional kindness (including self).
2. I invest time to examine my motives (why I do, or refrain from doing things).
3. I practice active listening—listening “between the lines” to what’s not being said as well as what’s verbalized.
4. Travel light—travel fast. I live below my means, embracing the philosophy that less is more.
5. Never–ever!—be held hostage by the opinion of others.
6. Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing. If I don’t like something, I change it.
7. Know my life purpose and live it. I am a channel for grace—the immediate presence of spirit.
What are your core values?

“May your life always be Counterpoint to the Clamor of the World.
May you delight in Dancing Lightly With Life.
May you soar on eagle wings, high above the madness of the world.
May you always sing Melody in the Symphony of Your Life.
May you taste, smell, and touch your dreams of a beautiful tomorrow.
May your sun always shine, and your sky be forever blue.”
– Jonathan Lockwood Huie
This month I found an article at the CDC website called Women and Heart Disease Prevention. It is a good article over all, but I want you to scroll down to the section called Ask Questions for a list of questions to ask your health care provider about your risk factors for a heart attack. This is important information we all need to know. http://www.cdc.gov/women/heart/
Everywhere we turn today someone is talking about the Law of Attraction, a universal law that in a nutshell says that what we put out into the universe comes back to us. It works for anyone regardless of intent and can be used for good or evil.
The Law of Attraction applies to all of life, not just money. I see the current emphasis on using this universal law for financial gain as a dangerous game causing people to feel inadequate and see themselves as failures if they do not have lots of money. How many blog posts focus on financial success and perceived moral failings of those who do not achieve it? Do we really believe wonderful, caring, creative people who use their gifts to help others without focusing on accumulating personal wealth are failures?
In the Christian Scriptures we are promised our needs will be provided, not that we will have unimaginable material wealth. In our mad search for “success” and wealth have we lost track of what really matters? How many families have suffered? How many children lose their way because parents are too busy working to teach and care for them? How many see faith as how much money they give to the church rather than how much time they spend with the Creator?
Search your heart, pray, meditate and set your priorities. Dare to be different. Dare to care about others more than becoming a millionaire. Do what you love and the money will follow.
