Today is celebrated in the United States as Independence Day. For many this is a day off of work. If this is a day off for you I encourage you to actually take the day off. This means not using the “extra” day to get caught up on housework, your blog, social networking or that business you are trying to get started. It means a day that you leave the cellphone and other electronic devices at home and spend time with friends, family or enjoying nature. Have a little fun. This can be really difficult for those of us who are self employed and work at home, but it is important. Take the day off.
Now for those of you outside the U.S. this applies to your national or work holidays when they roll around. In fact I hope everyone takes at least one day out of every week off. We need it, not just to rest, relax and recharge, but also to remember that life is supposed to be fun. Take time to enjoy it!

“In the midst of our struggle to find out who we are, there are infinite possibilities for beauty, and hope, and wonder, and love.”
― Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass

There is a popular saying, “Life’s a journey, not a destination.” That is correct, it is a journey. But sometimes it seems the journey is all about struggle and hardship. We work so hard at this thing we call life, accomplishing, achieving, acquiring and conquering. We have a dream we believe must be realized at all costs.
We forget that we are supposed to enjoy the trip. So how do we remember, and how do we enjoy the trip?
There is nothing wrong with having dreams and goals. Just don’t let them consume you. Life’s a journey. Enjoy the trip.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. — Luke 12:32
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? — Mark 4:40

“A thought transfixed me: for the first time in my life I saw the truth as it is set into song by so many, proclaimed as the final wisdom by so many thinkers. The truth — that love is the ultimate and the highest goal to which man can aspire. Then I grasped the meaning of the greatest secret that human poetry and human thought and belief have to impart: The salvation of man is through love and in love. … For the first time in my life I was able to understand the meaning of the words, ‘The angels are lost in perpetual contemplation of an infinite glory.‘” — Lucy MacDonald
