Just Around the Corner

I walk every morning, weather permitting. That doesn’t mean that every morning I’m happy about it. This morning was one of those days. I was grumbling to myself, my back hurts, I don’t want to walk today, do I have to? My walking friend was nowhere in sight and I was ready to call it a day.

As I walked toward my house, I was ready to go inside, but Spirit had something else in mind. Instead, I walked toward the water but turned left instead of going straight as I normally would. As I rounded the corner to the water front there was the most magnificent fiery red sun just above the tree line. The kind of view that takes your breath away. One of those “Thank you God” kind of experiences. As I stood there, I was reminded that my early morning walk isn’t just a physical activity.

I also learned an important lesson. When life gets difficult it is important to follow the nudges of Spirit and keep going. We never know what good may be waiting for us just around the corner.

Really Cool Stuff Happens

When differently gifted people come together magic happens. This is one reason the divisions in the world are so disturbing. It seems to be human nature to want to form groups of people just like ourselves. But we are missing out if we do. We are stronger, and more creative when we embrace and learn from what appear to be our differences. So go out there and help make some really cool stuff happen!

Just Keep Growing

The photo today is my sweet little Lizzie. She and her sister Beth bring great joy into our lives. But as we watch them grow and learn to be cats, we are also learning important life lessons.

Every day for these girls is an opportunity for a brand-new adventure as they explore and discover the world around them. Looking out the window is a new experience every day as they watch squirrels, birds, the neighbors and listen to traffic, people and dogs. Walking or running through the house they are always sniffing out new things to explore, new heights to climb to. If I can’t find Lizzie I am learning to look up.

As I watch them grow, I can’t help but wonder when I lost the excitement that is felt when everything is new. If we stay open to spirit we can see every day as a brand-new opportunity to learn and grow.

May every day be an awakening. May we never grow old. May we just keep growing.
