From time to time I will share a link from my secret stash of online places I go to recharge my creativity.  One of my favorites is Creativity Portal© a magazine site by creativity coach Chris Dunmire.  Full of fun projects, writing prompts and inspiring articles, don’t expect to see everything on the first visit.

Things That Go Squeak in the Night

A mystery sound.  A tiny squeak heard only in the wee hours of the morning between sleep and waking when imagination turns anything into a nightmare.

The thought “MOUSE” strikes terror in my heart.  I’m not getting up!  Who would scream louder, me or the mouse?  Drifting back to sleep…

Next night brings memories of watching old horror movies late at night in a century old house.  Maybe we have a ghost.  Definitely not getting up!  Taking longer to go back to sleep.

Restless nights spent praying, “The light of God surrounds me…”  Oh Lord, don’t let it get me!  Finally, courage summoned for a trip to the bathroom and the thing that goes squeak in the night is about to be revealed…

Laughter

Only the serious know how to truly laugh

I laugh a lot.  Not just a little giggle.  No, I laugh right out loud and don’t care who hears it.

A boss used to tease me about my laugh.  After I left for another job she called, telling jokes until I finally laughed. On the other end of the line I heard, “It’s about time! I miss that cackle of yours. No one laughs around here anymore.”  She didn’t know she could reintroduce laughter by laughing herself.

There are actual studies showing laughter may indeed be the best medicine.  So go ahead and laugh.  If anyone says anything tell them it’s for your health.

One of the things I love about the internet is the opportunity to visit places I many never actually go in real life.  A favorite way for me to spend time is to visit some of the world’s great art galleries online.   One of my favorites is the Louvre.  Yes, you read that right the Louvre — the famous one in France.  Didn’t know they had a website?  Go check it out.
