Healing the Secret Wound of the Soul
New Thought Music and Daniel Nahmod
When Bob and I started attending New Thought churches music was kind of an afterthought. There was the Unity Hymnal which included songs like Magic Penny and hymns with some of the lyrics changed. Professional musicians were brought in to provide “special music.” There was often instrumental music for meditation, sometimes live, sometimes recorded.
But now across the movement we are hearing beautiful songs being written which reflect our beliefs. Singe/songwriters like Ricki Byers Beckwith, Nimo, Jan Garret and J.D. Eddie Watkins Jr., Jana Stanfileld, Rev. Erin Mc Cabe and Karen Drucker just to mention a few, are teaching, inspiring and motivating us with their music and lyrics.
One of my favorites is Daniel Nahmod, singer/songwriter, producer, humanitarian. It is hard for me to choose just one of his many songs to share with you. While I love One Power, what keeps playing over and over in my mind right now is a song called water. Enjoy.
