“There are no mistakes. The events we bring upon ourselves, no matter how unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what we need to learn; whatever steps we take, they’re necessary to reach the places we’ve chosen to go.”Richard Bach

These things matter

“In the end these things matter most: How well did you love? How fully did you live? How deeply did you let go?”

Letting go

We are living through a time when we are being called to let go of many things such as:

  • Control
  • Old grudges
  • Anger
  • Greed
  • Selfishness
  • The need to be constantly busy
  • Our ideas of “work , “church” and “school”
  • Destructive ways of interacting with the earth
  • Ideas of race and policing
  • The idea of the perfection of our county

Everything seems to be falling apart.   Yet we seem to be clinging to old ways of doing things tighter than ever, even though they no longer seem to be working.

Sometimes we have to let go of what is no longer working to create something new and better.  I believe this is such a time.

Please join me this month as we explore letting go.  What one thing is your life are you being called to let go?

Don’t just do something, sit there

stop“We do so much, we run so quickly, the situation is difficult, and many people say, “Don’t just sit there, do something.” But doing more things may make the situation worse. So you should say, “Don’t just do something, sit there.” Sit there, stop, be yourself first, and begin from there.”

“Peace comes from being able to contribute the best that we have, and all that we are, toward creating a world that supports everyone. But it is also securing the space for others to contribute the best that they have and all that they are.” —Hafsat Abiola

“No person, no place, and no thing has any power over us, for ‘we’ are the only thinkers in our mind. When we create peace and harmony and balance in our minds, we will find it in our lives.”Louise L. Hay

Be a peacemaker

“If you want to bring the world closer to peace, be a peacemaker by creating peace whenever you can. If you find yourself engaged in an argument that only stirs anger in the heart, quickly make peace and carry on.”
