Start Living Now

“Start living now. Stop saving the good china for that special occasion. Stop withholding your love until that special person materializes. Every day you are alive is a special occasion. Every minute, every breath, is a gift from God.” — Mary Manin Morrissey

Do you have things you keep saving or putting off for later?

Are you saving the good china, Grandma’s tablecloth or a special dress for a special occasion that never arrives? Are you planning to travel when you retire? Are you deferring your dreams of singing, painting, dancing, running, writing, whatever if may be for you until the timing is right?

One of the things life has been showing me is that if it is at all possible do it now. I have seen enough dishes never used, trips never taken, dreams never realized to know the truth of today’s quote.

How would your life change if you began living as if “every day you are alive is a special occasion? Every minute, every breath, is a gift from God?”

You are One of a Kind

“Never forget that you are one of a kind. Never forget that if there weren’t any need for you in all your uniqueness to be on this earth, you wouldn’t be here in the first place. And never forget, no matter how overwhelming life’s challenges and problems seem to be, that one person can make a difference in the world. In fact, it is always because of one person that all the changes that matter in the world come about. So be that one person.” — R. Buckminster Fuller

Celebrating Birthdays at any Age

I can and I will live a long and happy life.

Today is my 65th birthday. It is a happy birthday and I look forward to many more. I like to tell people I have plans for my 100th.

We live in an area where people come to retire. I live surrounded by people who do not share my positive outlook on birthdays and getting older. A common phrase around here is “getting old sucks.” I recently heard someone say “there’s nothing golden about the golden years.” I wish people would stop saying those kinds of things.

You see, we create our own reality with our thoughts and our words. If we believe getting old “sucks,” it will. Too many people choose that reality for their “older years.”

It helps if we develop a healthy attitude toward aging at a young age. The better we take care of our bodies and learn to accept ourselves and our bodies no matter what our age the better outcomes we can expect as we grow older.

Today is my birthday. I am 65 years young. I will still celebrate in spite of COVID. We are not going out to eat, but I am treating myself to gluten free Oreos and chocolate dipped strawberries. I will practice yoga, meditate and even do a happy dance. It’s my birthday and no matter what is going on in the world around me I choose to celebrate!

Never Limit Yourself

“Never limit yourself because of others’ limited imagination; never limit others because of your own limited imagination.”  – Mae Jemison

Live Life Creatively

“Be brave enough to live life creatively. The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You can’t get there by bus, only by hard work and risk and by not quite knowing what you are doing. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover will be yourself.” — Alan Alda

The Friday Affirmation

“My inspiration is as close as my breath and as vast as the Universe.”

Creativity Affirmations

All Creativity is Magic

“To me, all creativity is magic. Ideas start out in the empty void of your head – and they end up as a material thing, like a book you can hold in your hand. That is the magical process. It’s an alchemical thing. Yes, we do get the gold out of it but that’s not the most important thing. It’s the work itself.” ~ Alan Moore
