“First, there is the power of the Wind, constantly exerted over the globe…. Here is an almost incalculable power at our disposal, yet how trifling the use we make of it! It only serves to turn a few mills, blow a few vessels across the ocean, and a few trivial ends besides. What a poor compliment do we pay to our indefatigable and energetic servant!”Henry Thoreau

“I am grateful for what I am and have.
My thanksgiving is perpetual…
O how I laugh when I think of my vague indefinite riches.
No run on my bank can drain it
for my wealth is not possession but enjoyment.”

Celebrate Take a Walk in the Park Day

I am known for my daily walks. I will walk anywhere, anytime, but my favorite walk is in a park in the early morning.

I agree with Thoreau, “An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.” The world is still quiet and you can be alone with your thoughts or enjoy the silence. Early morning is also great for wildlife watching. You can also catch some great photos, like the one above.

We know the health benefits of a good walk and we know it can help regulate our mood, but there is more. Walking is also a way of quieting our minds and helping us become centered.

This is a day worth celebrating. Come up with your own reason, but a great way to celebrate is to go for a walk in the park.
