October Follower of the Month: Michael Erb
This month’s Follower of the Month is Michael Erb of ME and the Boss 2013. His inspirational blog with a daily quote and commentary is one of my favorites. He also takes his own photos.
Fruit of the Spirit
” But the
fruit of the Spirit
is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness,
goodness,
faithfulness,
Meekness, temperance:
against such
there is no law.”
— Galatians 5: 22 & 23
In the constant battle between good and evil
it is unfortunate that some souls are lost
when their moral compass is blocked from their heart.
Have faith, believe that God’s law is there to protect you
from the mean and heartless.
Today, be the warrior for the faithful,
keep your moral compass pointed towards
the right side of the God’s law..
Kindness is the fruit of the Spirit.
Kindness is the beginning of a life filled with love.

Thought for Today and an Announcement

“The life of inner peace, being harmonious and without stress, is the easiest type of existence. The chief struggle then in gaining mental peace is the effort of revamping your thinking to the relaxed attitude of acceptance of God’s gift of peace.” – Norman Vincent Peale

When the Frost is on the Pumpkin: Getting Ready for Winter

Copyright 2013 by R.A. Robbins
As the years go by, I am becoming more in tune with the changing seasons. With that first little nip of cold in the air I want to be outside more, but I also feel pulled toward a flurry of “nesting” activity. It is good to listen to those urges, even if we don’t understand them. They are nature’s way of preparing us for the winter ahead.
So what are my ideas for winter preparation?
1. Get outside as much as you can.
2. Do outside lawn or house work.
3. Organize your closets.
4. Deep clean the house.
5. Winterize the house.
6. Winterize the car.
7. Dig out the snow shovel or snow blower, ice melt, ice scrapers for the car, etc.
8. Make a plan for school/work “snow days.”
9. Do any canning or freezing you need.
10. Stock up on non-perishable food items.
Take steps now to have what you need to survive severe winter weather. Then when the snow flies, sit back, light a fire in the fireplace, make yourself a cup of hot cocoa, watch the snow fall and enjoy winter.
How do you prepare for winter? Talk to me.

Where I Sit is Holy
If we started living this think of how the world would change.

“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”

Close Encounter of the Wildlife Kind
We live across the road from a lake/nature area that is one of our favorite places to walk. We do see wildlife there, like the turkeys that took over the road last week. But this kind of up close and personal wildlife sighting is unusual. This time I had the camera which is unusual.

When we first say the fawns they were directly in front of us on the sidewalk. Mom was nowhere in sight. We stopped in amazement at these two little ones, still with their spots. Then we started walking very slowly toward them talking quietly and gently. I was able to start taking an occasional photo without frightening them.

Mom intervenes and eventually gets the fawns into the tall grass.

They stay in the tall grass, feeding, until finally, the white flags fly and they go bounding across the field, disappearing over the ridge.
