The Friday Affirmation

I am inspired by the beauty in my life and all around me.

Please indulge a proud cat mom here for a minute. About a month ago two little rescue kitties joined our family. It took a while to get photos that were more than just a big blur. Kittens are little balls of energy and they run — a lot.

But they are also bringing life and joy to our lives as we watch them learn how to be cats. The learning and development of new skills happens every day. And with those new skills come new challenges, both for them and us. They have gone from barely being able to pull themselves up onto the couch to jumping up to the kitchen island in the short length of time they have been here. We are also hearing fewer “chirps” and more “meows.” We look forward to many more years of fun with a little madness and mayhem thrown in.

New Life

We recently welcomed new life into our home in the form of two kittens. Their names are Lizzie and Beth. There are a few people who think we are a little crazy. Kittens at our age?

But these little bundles of energy are exactly what we needed. Living in a “senior” community we are surrounded by sickness and death along with people who believe that is not only inevitable, but normal. The energy, playfulness and sheer joy of our “girls” is what we need to remember that life goes on even after loss and sadness.

On this Resurrection Sunday we are reminded of the meaning of the resurrection of Jesus. Light overcomes darkness. Life overcomes death. Love overcomes fear. May we walk in this truth. Amen.
