There are Many Types of Freedom

Copyright 2016 by R.A. Robbins

“There are many types of freedom: physical freedom, mental or emotional freedom, spiritual freedom, and political freedom. Physical freedom is the freedom to move from place to place: literal freedom. Mental or emotional freedom is having peace of mind and being able to be free from scary thoughts or nightmares. Political freedom is being free of those above you: your authorities, the government, and leaders. The best freedom to have is mental and emotional freedom. Even if you are locked in a jail cell, never again to see the outside world, you still have the freedom to think whatever you want, whenever you want.”

Free Somebody Else

“I tell my students, ‘When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else. This is not just a grab-bag candy game.”  ― Toni Morrison

To Have Faith…

“To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don’t grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead you relax, and float.”

A Part of the Whole

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
― Albert Einstein

Letting go…

“Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything – anger, anxiety, or possessions – we cannot be free.”
