“We’d never know how high we are till we are called to rise; and then, if we are true to plan, our statures touch the sky.” — Emily Dickinson

Emily Dickinson is one of my favorite poets. There are more modern ways the sentiment of todays quote has been expressed, but I love language and older ways of putting words together.

We really don’t know how much we can do until the situation calls for it. I have learned this lesson repeatedly during the past year as Bob’s eye problems have required me to take over responsibilities I was sure I could not manage, but so far everyone has survived.  We still have a way to go but I am rising to the call.
