January Follower of the Month: Doreen Lerner
Genie’s Note: Our January follower of the month is Doreen Lerner of The Full Mind Weigh.
Happy New Year!
It’s a new beginning. What do you want to see on December 31st when you look back on this year? When we think about change, we can feel overwhelmed. No matter what your goals are, it’s best to break them down into tiny steps. Each step taken feels like a success, and motivates us to keep going.
* Acknowledge yourself for each tiny step taken. Anchor each tiny step to an established habit, for maximum success.
* If you’re unsure about the change, restrict the new behavior to 30 days and see how you feel at that point.
* Remind yourself of the challenges that you’ve previously overcome.
* Find an accountability partner – someone who will support you and be your cheerleader.
If you become discouraged, remind yourself of why you want to accomplish the goal – what’s your underlying passion or the underlying value that you strongly believe in?
Dr. Doreen Lerner is a licensed psychologist. She earned a degree in psychology from Glasgow University in Scotland, and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. Thought for Today

“One thing we do know: Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at this moment.” — Eckhart Tolle {Source: Weekly Present Moment Reminders]

Reasons to Celebrate January
There are always reasons to celebrate life if you just look around you.
During January we have the obvious holidays we all know about, New Years Day (1/1) and Martin Luther King Jr. Day (1/19 in the U.S.).
But did you know that January is also:
National Bath Safety Month
- National Blood Donor Month
- National Braille Literacy Month
- National Hobby Month
- Hot Tea Month
- National Oatmeal Month
- National Soup Month
In addition we also have some fun and sometimes even silly things to celebrate during January:
4 Trivia Day This is the day to show off your knowledge of little known facts.
10 Houseplant Appreciation Day Let your philodendron know you care.
19 National Popcorn Day A reason to eat popcorn.
27 Chocolate Cake Day Did someone say chocolate cake?
31 Inspire Your Heart with Art Day Get inspired.

The Help of Others
“No one who achieves success does so without the help of others.
The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.” —
Alfred North Whitehead
I really like this quotation. In a world where many seem to believe they not only can but do achieve everything on their own, we need to be reminded of this important truth.
What better time that the fist day of the new year to remember those who have helped us along life’s way and be grateful.
Today I am grateful for the members of the church where I grew up. Many are gone now, but they are still alive in my heart and I am forever grateful for their guidance, support and friendship.
Pray for Peace
Please take a moment to watch this powerful video and join together in heart, mind and intention to pray for peace on this New Year’s Eve.

2014 in review
Genie’s Note: It’s that time of year again. Time for the WordPress annual report. While the way these reports are presented seems a little silly to me, they do provide valuable information, including confirmation that the stats I normally have access to are waaaaaay off. I have always known that more of you show up than they daily stats show, but it is good to have confirmation of this. They also of course remind me of my wonderful followers and the importance of your participation. Thank you so much. Feel free to check out the Espirational annual report below if you are interested.
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 11,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
