“Everybody has a vocation to some form of life-work. However, behind that call (and deeper than any call), everybody has a vocation to be a person to be fully and deeply human in Christ Jesus.”
― Brennan Manning, The Wisdom of Tenderness: What Happens When God’s Fierce Mercy Transforms Our Lives

“We live in a world where bad stories are told, stories that teach us life doesn’t mean anything and that humanity has no great purpose. It’s a good calling, then, to speak a better story. How brightly a better story shines. How easily the world looks to it in wonder. How grateful we are to hear these stories, and how happy it makes us to repeat them.”
― Donald Miller, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years: What I Learned While Editing My Life

“God did not direct His call to Isaiah— Isaiah overheard God saying, “. . . who will go for Us?” The call of God is not just for a select few but for everyone. Whether I hear God’s call or not depends on the condition of my ears, and exactly what I hear depends upon my spiritual attitude.”
― Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
Today is Unity World Day of Prayer. Bob and I were extremely moved by this mornings events. As powerful as they were via the live stream, I can’t even imagine what it must have been like to be there in person. Please join us at 7:00 pm CT for live streaming of the closing Celebration with musical performance by Daniel Nahmod. http://www.unity.org/wdop
I apologize for not thinking to post this earlier, but I hope a few will be able to catch the closing celebration.

“People from my first home say I’m brave. They tell me I’m strong. They pat me on the back and say, ‘Way to go. Good job.’ But the truth is, I am not really very brave; I am not really very strong; and I am not doing anything spectacular. I am simply doing what God has called me to do as a person who follows Him. He said to feed His sheep and He said to care for ‘the least of these,’ so that’s what I’m doing, with the help of a lot people who make it possible and in the company of those who make my life worth living”
― Katie J. Davis, Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption

“I believe there’s a calling for all of us. I know that every human being has value and purpose. The real work of our lives is to become aware. And awakened. To answer the call.”
― Oprah Winfrey

It can be easy to get so caught up on all the terrible things going on in the world that we forget about the good. In spite of all the chaos we still wake up in the morning, the sun still shines and we do still meet good people throughout the day.
Today we have a simple little exercise. Think of one good thing in your life, you neighborhood or even the world. Think of it throughout the day. Start looking for the good things in life and you will find them. Practice this everyday and you will find your mood and your attitude improving. Add a little prayer of gratitude for the good things and it will get even better. 🙂
