The challenge of the formlessness of God

“One of the most challenging aspects for those who are seeking to find the God of their understanding for the first time is His formlessness. It can be difficult to believe in, and connect with, something that cannot be seen. Perhaps this is because although God is in all things He is felt and experienced on levels that relate directly to the condition of our own hearts.”

He thinks of God instead of experiencing God

Copyright 2016 by R.A. Robbins

“We try to evade the question of existence with property, prestige, power, possession, production, fun, and, ultimately, by trying to forget that we- that I- exist. No matter how much he thinks of God or goes to church, or how much he believes in religious ideas , if he, the whole man, is deaf to the question of existence, if he does not have an answer to it, he is marking time, and he lives and dies like one of the million things he produces. He thinks of God, instead of experiencing God.” — Erich Fromm

Guest Bloggers Needed to Shine Their Light

I am currently planning Espirational blog posts for the month of December.  Our theme will be Celebrating in the Midst of Darkness and I want to include you.

If you have great ideas for celebrating during a global pandemic let me know.  This is not limited to Christmas — articles with ideas for Hannukah, Winter Solstice, Kwanza or other December light holidays are welcome.

Now more than ever, we are called to shine our light.   COVID-19 can’t “kill Christmas”  (or any other light holiday) if we keep it in our hearts.  How do you suggest we do this and celebrate safely? Reply here or use the contact form and let’s talk about it.

Don’t wait till you die to rest in peace

Copyright 2014 by R.A. Robbins

Rest in peace is a phrase we usually hear when someone has died.  But we don’t have to die to rest in peace.

We can rest in the peace of God right here and right now.  Yes, right smack dab in the chaos and turmoil of the world around us.

All we have to do is stop, close our eyes and notice our breath going in and out.  As we watch our thoughts going past without grabbing hold of them we will feel our mind start to settle.  As we continue we will begin to find ourselves resting in the peace of God.

It’t that easy.  The hard part is letting go.  Letting go of thoughts.  Letting go of the energy of drama and struggle.

Taking the time to just rest in the Presence is not being lazy, selfish or non-productive. It is the most important time we can spend. and is not something to put off until we die.

So today, I say to all of us still among the living…. rest in peace.

I can desire only one thing

“The life-converting experience is not the discovery that I have choices to make that determine the way I live out my existence, but the awareness that my that my existence itself is not in the center. Once I ‘know’ God, that is, once I experience God’s love as the love in which all my human experiences are anchored, I can desire only one thing: to be in that love.”

Silence will illuminate you in God

“Silence will illuminate you in God… and deliver you from phantoms of ignorance. Silence will unite you to God…. In the beginning we have to force ourselves to be silent. But then from our very silence is born something that draws us into deeper silence. May God give you an experience of this ‘something’ that is born of silence”

The end of all learning

“The end of all learning is to know God, and out of that knowledge to love and imitate Him.”
