No, it’s not, Michael. I struggle with this too. I live in a Southern state surrounded by supporters of the current administration. I don’t know how light could possibly overcome the darkness in this situation, but I know that God does. I also know that the call to shine our light is stronger than ever. How we do that is an individual calling, but this is not a physical battle and we lose when we become violent in word or action. Beginning before COVID, 2020 was an intensive crash course in letting go and trusting God for me. Not something I wanted to go through, especially the physical injury, but I did need the time out to stop feeling like a victim and to stop feeling powerless. Physical, spiritual, and emotional healing takes time and it may feel that time has run out and we have to act. Recent events in the U.S. have shown us that words can be just as powerful a weapon as guns, driving people to violence. Our power comes in speaking the truth in love and shining our light. I chose the quote from Dr. King because he strove to lead us down the path of love and light. Our job is to continue down that path, guided by Spirit.
Hang in there Michael. I think of you and other spiritual leaders often during this difficult time.
It is… and it is not easy to let go in these days of turmoil and fear/hatred
