Knowing Where we Have Been

“For Africa to me… is more than a glamorous fact. It is a historical truth.  No man can know where he is going unless he knows exactly where he has been and exactly how he arrived at his present place.”

– Dr. Maya Angelou, author and poet

In Memory of Dr. Maya Angelou

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style” ― Maya Angelou

By now you have probably heard of Dr. Angelou’s passing in May. I chose the above quote because I think is captures what her life was about so well.

So, in reflection on the passing of this great woman I say mission accomplished. You live on in the wisdom you shared that influenced so many of us. Rest in peace.
