Roof Over Your Head Day

Today’s photo is of my home. Thank you God!

This is a day to be grateful our homes. We should never take this for granted. Any of us, regardless of our current circumstances, could find ourselves homeless. We live in a world where many choose to blame the “less fortunate” for their circumstances. But today let’s do something different. Of couse we can and should pray for the homeless, but today let’s put feet to our prayers and take some kind of action.

You could begin by contacting your area homeless shelter. Ask them what they need. It is easy to give money and shelters always need and appreciate monetary donations, but during ths season consider donating the necessities such as food, clothing, blankets or giving of yourself through your time and skills to do whatever is needed.

Of course the need is great aound the holidays but it does not end in January. Please consider continuing your gifts of time, talent and treasure to benefit the homeless throughout the year.

Coats and Toys for Kids Day

I could not find much information and the dates I found were Dec. 2, 3, and the 1st Saturday of December. But I did find the Coats for Kids program of the Salavation Army and the Marine Corp. Reserves Toys for Tots . So I decided t remind you about the fine work of these organizatons.

Coats for Kids provides warm winter coats for children in need. No one wants children to be cold and without a coat. This is a good time to go through your childrens closest and donate coats that no longer fit. For more information visit https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usc-wm4/news/donate_a_coat_2013/

Toys for Tots is a program of the Marine Corp Reserves. New, unwrapped toys are collected from October to mid-late December. Distribution is also in mid to late December.  Members of the community drop new, unwrapped toys in collection boxes positioned in local businesses. Toys are distributed to less fortunate children with the assistance of local social welfare agencies, church groups, and other local community agencies. For more inforamation visit https://www.toysfortots.org/

We like to say that Christmas is for children. Let’s be sure we include all children and not just the fortunate few.

A Month of Celebrations

We all know the well known major holidays during this month. However sometimes it seems like we celebrate these out of a sense of obligation. And this month we will celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza and New Years Eve here. But we will celebrate every day with some lesser known and even made up holidays. Remember to celebrate every day. If you need some help stop by Espirational. We’ll have somethng for you to celebrate.

We are kicking the month off with National Christmas Lights Day. Mine have been up for a few weeks already, but there is still time to get them hung.

Christmas lights and lighted decorations are a perfect way to shine our light in the darkness of winter. So get out those lights, detangle the strings and shine your light!

November Wrap Up

As we bring this month to a close we take the lessons of Autumn with us. We will learn to embrace change, go with the flow of the seasons and see the beauty all around us no matter the circumstances.

Tomorrow we will begin a new month as we prepare for the holdays we will celebrate.
