Stronger and Braver Together

“We’re stronger and braver TOGETHER. Do not let this world and this narcissistic culture make competitors out of the very people who are meant to be your comrades in arms.” – Beth Moore

Sharing the Load

“The lessons from the peace process are clear; whatever life throws at us, our individual responses will be all the stronger for working together and sharing the load.” – Elizabeth II

We and many other Americans are saddened by the recent election results. But life goes on and so do we. Hang in there, you are not alone. Our work for peace and brotherhood continues.

Working Together

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is a success.” – Henry Ford

Drawn Together

“You know, we have our differences, everybody does, honest, real differences, but I do believe strongly that we as neighbors are drawn together far more than we’re driven apart.” – Dan Miller

Let There Be Peace

Today is Election Day here in the U.S. We live in a time when these “United States” are anything but united. I have to admit I am concerned about the consequences of this election. And they will be serious no matter which way the election goes. If Donald Trump wins, we lose our democracy. If he loses, we could face civil war. Many people feel helpless as we watch the unthinkable unfold. It’s reached the point where it can be difficult to even talk to each other.

But I have to remind myself there is always something we can do. We have tools to help us deal with difficult times. First, we can always pray. We can repeat affirmations. We can center and calm ourselves to keep from adding to the anger and confusion going on around us right now. And this one is for me, we can turn off the “news” and stop letting ourselves be manipulated and triggered. Lastly, we must vote. This is not the time to resign ourselves to the worst outcome or the idea there is nothing we can do. If you have not already, get out there and vote.

Finally let us repeat together the following prayer.

Let there be peace.

Peace in my heart

Peace in my mind

Peace in my words

Peace in my actions

Peace in my home

Peace in my neighborhood

Peace in my city

Peace in my country

Peace in the world

Let there be peace

Deepest Level of Communication

“The deepest level of communication is not communication, but communion. It is wordless…beyond speech…beyond concept.” -Thomas Merton.

No Enemy Within

“When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.”

– Winston S. Churchill.

Unity is Strength

“Unity is strength… when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” – Mattie Stepanek.

Mattie Stepanek was a child with a rare disorder called dysautonomic mitochondrial myopathy and an old soul. He spoke and wrote about peace during his 13 short years on earth. Read more about Mattie at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mattie_Stepanek and https://www.mattieonline.com/

Unity

“We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.”

-Martin Luther King, Jr.

We live in a world that seems hopelessly divided. I find myself wondering, how did we get here? How do we survive this? Will we survive this?

The election here in the U.S. is just a few days away. Could it be possible that there will be violence no matter who is elected? Are we standing at the edge of the death of democracy? Will the “United” States survive?

I believe it is possible. If we come together and learn to love and respect each other regardless of race, gender or religion we can heal the world. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? But of course, it never is.

If we look at the big picture it can all seem pretty hopeless. But if we start talking to our neighbors and hearing what they have to say, we can change the world one person, one conversation and one friendship at a time

Please join me this month as we celebrate unity.
