I wanted to say more in response to your comment yesterday Joseph, but the words just wouldn’t come. You are so right. Jesus himself said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Jesus is the great example who came to earth to teach us how to live. But sadly, many see him as the great exception. Believing that it is impossible to live the Christ life many say, “Jesus died for my sins” and go their merry way. Many churches today seem more about doctrine and politics than following the example of Jesus and it breaks my heart.
It saddens me that so few know the truth of the Scripture and forget the truths that A Kempis practiced. Christ came to seek and save the lost not just forgive the lost. The power to live the Christian life is found in the cross every bit as much as the forgiveness of our sins is. Jesus did not just come to die and to be the sacrifice for our sins. He rose from the dead to be the victor over our sins. Those who truly believe in Him can and should conquer their personal sins in ever increasing measure…at least that is what the Bible teaches. You are right by the way, the church has gotten too involved in partisan poiltics and needs to repent and we have gotten to entrenched in denominational doctrines rather than in biblical truth. There too repentance towards a more biblical theology is necessary.
And all of these are Jesus! I love this quote!
