“You never have to change anything you got up in the middle of the night to write.” ― Saul Bellow
Have you ever been awakened in the middle of the night with a really good idea, or inspiration to write or artistically create something?
When I was younger I would wake up in the morning looking for a research paper I had written during the night. I remembered being at my typewriter working on it, but in the morning it was nowhere to be found.
When I was designing clothing and jewelry I would go to my closet to get my latest design, but it wasn’t there. I was doing all this while I was asleep. If I started right away, I might be able to recreate at least a part of what I had done.
Often when I actually write an article for the blog I am up writing in the middle of the night. I have finally learned that when I wake up with words coming into my head like they are being dictated to me I have to start writing before they are gone. Why does this happen? I believe it is easier for Spirit, the Creator, God, the unconscious mind, whatever name we call it, to communicate directly with us when we are asleep.
May we be open to the creative power of the Universe, even if it wakes us up in the middle of the night.
Do you have a story of waking up inspired you would like to share?
Not exactly in the middle of the night nudgings for me. But sometimes, I wake up with a definite idea which I often lose quickly if I don’t immediately write them down. Other times, I wake up with a (really strong) song in my spirit.

Sometimes I do write in the middle of the night or late before heading to bed… often times I look at the words and my thoughts go in a different direction… however, the initial was a part of the birthing process.

That gives you a place to start. I don’t like getting up in the middle of the night. Sometimes it takes a couple of nudges then a big GET UP! from my angels to get me out of bed. I’ve also learned that if I’m getting something in my sleep and don’t get up and take care of it — it’s gone in the morning. 🙂
