“Life isn’t as serious as the mind makes it out to be.” – Eckhart Tolle
Today’s photo is of one of the fairy doors that mysteriously started appearing in trees in a Nebraska park. Eventually more and more faeries started moving in and created quite a community.
How do you take a break from the seriousness of the world? Please share your thoughts below.
Good for youu Michael. It is so easy to ge overworked and overwhelmed as a Pastor. I’m glad you and Denise are able to carve out space to escape all the seriousess. it can be hard, can’t it?
Even being “retired” at the lake life can get all too serious. We live in a “senior” community and it seems someone is always sick or dying. And there are the regular rounds of community squabbles that happen anywhere. I like to walk early when people are still asleep or sit on a bench by the lake and watch the pelicans. Sometimes I shut myself up in my art studio and just play. When life gets too serious Bob has been known to ask a silly queston in a completely serious tone without cracking a smile or break into song.

That is an excellent question! I don’t seem to be doing that very well, lately. With church and personal concerns, Denise and I rarely get that opportunity. When we do? A nice dinner, a contemplative walk with our cameras, snuggling on the couch together with Pixie… today I had lunch with a colleague who is a chaplain at our local hospital. It was a wonderful time of sharing.
