“Creativity takes courage.” – Henri Matisse
Oh yes it does. All those scary thoughts that run through the creative mind like, “Am I doing this right?”, “People will laugh at me”, “I’m not good enough”, “I didn’t go to art school” or one of my favorites, “If I don’t give this up I’m going to starve.”
It takes a lot of courage to tell all those doubts and fears to just “shut up” and go on with life and art. But remember, creative people are the brave ones, we can do it.

“Mystery is at the heart of creativity. That, and surprise.” – Julia Cameron
I love this from Julia Cameron. My artwork never turns out quite like I see it when starting out. Sometimes it looks nothing like my original idea. But I’m okay with that. I love those surprises!
Today’s art is called Quilter’s Burnout. I because extremely frustrated with the black and white blocks and threatened to burn them. Well that actually seemed like a good idea, so I actually did do a controlled burn in a sink with lots of water (don’t try this at home.) I actually liked the finished piece and called it Quilter’s Burnout.

An Oldie but Goodie
Genie’s Note: This is an oldie by goodie from July 20, 2012.
You may recognize the title of this post as words from the Bible (Psalm 8:3 KJV). Looking up at the night sky has inspired poets, artists, philosophers, theologians, musicians, scientists and other dreamers since time began. Technology now lets us see the stars in a way we never have before. Need a little inspiration? See the universe through the lens of the Hubble Telescope.
