There are Spring violets under the snow.”

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” – Edith Sitwell [Source: http://www.egreenway.com%5D

“It’s Wednesday. I am alive. I am breathing. God has given me another today. I am thankful. I am blessed. God is Good. Just for today … I will look for joy in all things. I will enjoy what is beautiful. I will listen. I will learn. I will believe.” — Lori Homeyer

I prefer winter and Fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape — the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show. ~Andrew Wyeth

Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth. ~Hugh Macmillan, “Rejuvenescence,” The Ministry of Nature, 1871

He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter…. In winter the stars seem to have rekindled their fires, the moon achieves a fuller triumph, and the heavens wear a look of a more exalted simplicity. ~John Burroughs, “The Snow-Walkers,” 1866
Winter

I love winter! I wouldn’t be saying that if I had to get out and drive in the snow and ice. But at this time of my life I can arrange things to not have to get out in bad weather. I can just sit back and watch it snow while sipping a mug of nice hot chocolate.
But winter is also my most creative time. While it snows and blows I am working on my art. Ideas are plentiful and the motivation to create is strong. Maybe it’s because I am a winter baby, born in January. My mother loved to tell about walking to the hospital in the snow. What she left out was the part about living across the street. 🙂
So what do you love about winter?
