Still Fighting Against?

Genie’s Note: In 2017 I wrote “Fighting Against or Living For?” The original post was about my experiences as an “older” adult. But the world has changed since 2017 and in revisiting this I want to broaden it out a bit.

We live in a time where everyone seems to be blaming someone else for the problems in our world. Here in the U.S. Republicans blame Democrats and Democrats blame Republicans. Christian Evangelicals are quick to blame those not on their side for all the evils n the world and of course non-evangelicals are quick to throw the blame back. The list of specfic issues dividing us goes on and on.

The next step from blame then becomes fighting against the perceived evil doers who are destroying our country. This can be done through political action, protests and sometimes actual physical violence or even talk of actual civil war.

I have to admit I get caught up in the mess of it all sometimes. I frequently have to remind myself that instead of fighing agaist I am called to live for something greater. This may seem like a very slight shift, but if we look at it closely, the difference is huge

Are we fighting against the negative forces in the world today or are we living for light, love, peace, acceptance, and creating a better world for all?

What are you fighting against?  How can you flip that into living for something greater?
