Thought for Today and a Few of My Own

“The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.”
Joe Klaas, Twelve Steps to Happiness

Yes, it will — do both things.  I remember one of my college classes, The God Man Christian Experience.  It was basically a class on Christian Mysticism, not from so much an historical perspective as from a personal one.  Everything I was was exposed to during this class made perfect sense, which really ticked me off, because it was not what I had been taught to believe.   I began to work through it and eventually reached a new place in my spiritual life — well beyond where I had started from.

So if you are awakening and are experiencing anger with the new way of looking at things that is being presented to you, take a deep breath and relax.  The truth really will set you free — after you calm down and accept it for what it is.

  1. Great post! For me, this awakening had come after several years of singing, teaching, preaching and evangelizing in conservative Christian churches, while all the while knowing there was something more and searching to find it. When I did find that something it was not where I expected to find it. The Holy Spirit of God prompted me to learn about another form of faith, an invisible yet universal church, one centered upon the teachings of Christ instead of the history of Jesus and the Jews. A “church” without walls. When I first started talking to these people of faith I felt I was being a traitor to the church. People, leaders in traditional churches, told me how wrong I was for doing so, and the danger I was placing myself in. However, very quickly in my investigation of this “new” way of thinking I found that the Kingdom of God is truly within each of us, and in that truth I found freedom and peace. Thanks for posting this. Namaste.
