I cannot say I completely agree with the quote. Ideally, yes it is exactly how it should work. In my experience however, kindness is only seen & treated as weakness.

Yes, you will sometimes be taken advantage of and most of us have been there. Continuing to be kind in the face of ridicule, hateful remarks and people trying to use us is indeed a show of strength. What keeps me going is remembering that if we respond in kind to the rude and nasty we are giving in to the ways of the world. If we are not part of the light we are part of the darkness. That and I here my late mother’s voice saying, Rogene Adell, be nice!

I make great efforts to never respond in a rude or nasty way, however with some.. no matter the amount of kindness that we might show it makes no visible difference. Will continue to try, despite that. Good luck to you as well!
