Yesterday was National Picnic Day and yes, I found it too late.  But better late than never, right?  I am a big fan of eating outside.   Actually I am a big fan of getting outside any way possible, but eating outside in nature is special.  Breathing the fresh air and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, just makes food taste better.  Plus you have the added benefit of feeling like there’s no hurry, you can just relax and enjoy your meal.

We just had our deck stained and we are using it much more than we did last summer.  While we still enjoy packing a picnic and going somewhere we are also enjoying taking our lunch or dinner out on the patio and enjoying the fresh air and being serenaded by bird song.

So on this glorious spring day here in Oklahoma, I encourage you to get outside.  While you’re at it pack a lunch and make a day of it.

  1. What a really fabulous post. Something about it made me more peaceful than I was before I read it. I can’t figure out what made that change, but I just know I feel a whole lot more ‘at one’ with all that is greater than me. Just a really terrific blog post. ~ Cobs. x
