The Pelicans Have Landed

We live on the pelican migration route.  For the last few weeks the people in our community have been asking each other “Are the pelicans here yet?”  There had been sightings on larger areas of the lake but none had been spotted here — until this past weekend.  Bob and I spent about an hour Saturday afternoon watching a small group of pelicans fly in and swim by our favorite bench on the beach. What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.

When I say we are “retired” I mean we no longer work for someone else and we no longer receive regular paychecks.  We still work.  We word on various writing, art and research projects.  But we are so blessed to be able to take the time to enjoy nature and the company of others in our  community.  Taking time to watch pelicans swim or to actually talk to our neighbors is priceless.

    1. I had never actually seen pelicans in real life before. They are quite spectacular. Have fun in San Diego — hope you get good photos. I need to get a better camera for all the birds we have here.
