We Need Your Prayers

Almost two years ago Bob woke up pretty much blind. With no medical insurance and losing his job with little hope of finding a new one due to his eye problems the last two years have not always been easy. We have continued to believe that it’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters and have tried to look on the positive side of things.

Once Bob qualified for Medicare in November doctors stopped not being interested because it was “just his eyes” and a whirlwind of referrals and diagnoses began. Just before Christmas we were told he had glaucoma, then a week later a pituitary tumor. Three doctors now agree that there is a pituitary tumor. Whether any of the other things we were told were accurate, we have no way of knowing. The large tumor is pressing on the optic chiasma presumably causing the vision problems. We are being given no options but surgery and are being pressured to have this done right away. This is a serious surgery with serious risks.

So let’s just say we need your prayers. A church prayer chain that reached around the world saved my life years ago as doctors were encouraging my family to end life support, so I know the power of prayer. Please join me in prayer and if anyone knows of alternative treatments for this type of tumor please let us know. You may use the contact form on the About page to contact us.

  1. Thank you for visiting my blog so that I have the privilege of visiting your site and join in praying for Bob. I understand your fear and reservations. At one time I was legally blind and remain with impaired vision. While I will pray for Bob, please remember Proverbs 3:5-6. God controls our lives and has a purpose in all things. God bless you both.

  2. Hi Bob..Thanks for visiting and liking my blog.
I’ve experienced first-hand the results the power of prayer and I’ve learned that God may provide the answer in the form of an alternative drug or treatments. Sounds like you are open to what comes. Stay positive.. Blessings….

  3. Thank you for sharing. I know nothing of treatments or alternatives, but I join with others holding you both before our loving and gracious God. May you know peace in the midst of uncertainty, and may God continue to guide and protect you.

  4. I had open heart/triple by-pass in 2006. It has become as common now as removing tonsils. I have scarred macula right eye only weak peripheral and glaucoma in “good” eye but with lens implant and cataract removal see like superman long distance and need cheap pharmacy store reading glasses. It is astonishing the surgery restorations available in the time in which we live and encourage you to have confidence. Glaucoma is never cured but managed with the drops and have no loss vision last decade. You mentioned medicare. Are you paying for supplemental? Does your state have private medicare advantage plan? I have one NO PREMIUMS, NO CO-PAY DOCTOR OR MEDS ! Seems your visit to my blog no coincidence.

  7. I am so deeply sorry. I will certainly carry you both in my heart and thoughts. It can be so deeply frustrating and fearful when you have this kind of diagnosis. May the clarity you seek unfold and lead you in to a decision that will give the most healing.

  8. Genie, my prayers will be said for Bob for a successful outcome. But please also check out with your Optometrist or ophthalmologist just how severe the Glaucoma is….there are wonderful drops for relieving/reducing pressure. I hope he is not suffering severe headaches also. Sending healing hugs to you both, and prayers to St Jude.

    1. Thank you Maureen. We’re not sure if he has glaucoma yet. We have been sent to a series of ophthalmologists since November and only one said glaucoma. Her test to confirm it suggested the tumor instead. We have no idea which, if any of the total of five different diagnoses we have received has been correct. Right now we are focusing on prayer, meditation and spiritual healing because we can’t make an informed decision until we get clear of the fear the doctors are trying to instill in us. Thanks again for the prayers, they are much appreciated.
