“Patterning your life around other’s opinions is nothing more than slavery.” — Lawana Blackwell
People always seem to have opinions about how we should live our lives, don’t they? From serious issues such as health, to personal ones like political or religious belifs to the more trivial like how we dress or wear our hair (the photo today is my hair and people do have opinions) everyone seems to have an opinion. And in the computer age we seem compelled to express them.
Of course there is a time to listen and sometimes apply suggestions from others, but we have to resist becoming a copy of anyone else. Being someone other than who you were created to be is slavery. You don’t want to go there.
I have an opinion about that hair of yours…I LOVE IT!!!

I figure anyone with negative comments about your hair are either blessed with waaaay too much time on their hands, or just plain jealous that they can’t grow theirs like that. I can’t grow my hair anywhere near that thick and beautiful, but I don’t “do” jealous. You enjoy every inch of that gorgeous mane!

Nothing that is outside of you can affect you. Nothing outside of you can make you feel sad, angry, weak or disheartened without YOUR permission!

That is so true. How many times are we concerned about what others think or how others will react to us. We are only sucuumbing to their wishes and desires. Soon we find that we are who THEY want us to be rather than being free to be the individual we were created to be.

What a wonderful quote! How much better our discourse would be if we each thought for ourselves and lived accordingly. Thanks or sharing this one.

I’m not sure what the connection is between the statement and the photo, but today my thoughts were:”When someone says you’ve changed, it simply means that you have stopped living Life their way”

Thank you for the feedback. I added a little to today’s post. When I think of other’s trying to control me for some reason the first thing that comes to mind is my hair. Silly I know when there are much more serious ways Bob and I go against the popular culture and for which we pay a much higher price. I like your thoughts on the quote.
