This is a day to be grateful our homes. We should never take this for granted. Any of us, regardless of our current circumstances, could find ourselves homeless. We live in a world where many choose to blame the “less fortunate” for their circumstances. But today let’s do something different. Of couse we can and should pray for the homeless, but today let’s put feet to our prayers and take some kind of action.
You could begin by contacting your area homeless shelter. Ask them what they need. It is easy to give money and shelters always need and appreciate monetary donations, but during ths season consider donating the necessities such as food, clothing, blankets or giving of yourself through your time and skills to do whatever is needed.
Of course the need is great aound the holidays but it does not end in January. Please consider continuing your gifts of time, talent and treasure to benefit the homeless throughout the year.
