The light of God surrounds us;
The love of God enfolds us;
The power of God protects us;
The presence of God watches over us;
Wherever we are, God is. — James Dillet Freeman
What has become the Prayer for Protection was written as a poem by James Dillet Freeman during World War II. It has become much loved and today many Unity churches end their services with this prayer.
I was brought up in a tradition that did not often use “canned” prayers. But the prayer for protection has become a source of comfort and strength for me during trubulent times as well as a reminder of God’s presence during peaceful ones.
