See Ch. 18 – The Fall of Babylon

Suddenly, in this detailed recounting of what had occurred in Chapters Thirteen and Fourteen, John saw again the mighty angel which carried the message that Babylon had fallen.  This mighty angel had great authority and through his presence was the foundation of faith brought to light in such a way that all the world’s population could see and understand.

He said:

“Fallen!  Fallen is Babylon the Great!  She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird.  For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries.  The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”

(REV 18:2-3—NIV)

Ah, Babylon.  Babel!  How will it fall?  Once it was a fair young maiden, freshly washed with the flood of the Lord.  Thus cleansed did it go out to reclaim the planet and to populate it (GEN 9:1).  But, because she became fearful, she determined it in her mind to gather herself together into one place.  And because those in her were all of one language, they were able to  start building a tower which was to reach “to the heavens” so she could be forewarned if another flood were to come upon the planet.

But her ancestors had been forewarned, through one named Noah, and they refused to heed him; thus were they destroyed.  And so, since her citizens determined in their hearts to not willingly obey God’s command to “fill (populate) the earth” (GEN 9:1) but instead they decided to “let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth” (GEN 11:4).  God had to force them to do so through a confusion of their languages.

Jehovah used the “Babel Effect” wherein people doing one job gained one set of terms for the work which they were doing while people which they worked with and who were doing similar or necessary counterpart work gained a different set of terms for the same objects or actions.  This social quirk can be seen to occur naturally when a large project is attempted by people which requires the development of several departments working together in a  cooperative unison;  like the acronyms used internally in any fast growing industry where the symbol “H” could represent “hydrogen” to the chemist or “hard-hat area” to the mechanic.  An uninformed mechanic who started to go through an area of the plant which was unfamiliar to her and saw a large sign posted on a post directly behind the door with a huge “H” on it.  Nonchalantly the mechanic dutifully dawned her assigned hard-hat and continued on through the unfamiliar area. Getting a cigarette out of a pack she prepared to light it when suddenly she found herself picking herself up off the floor after a man wearing a white coat and standing nearly 6’8” tall had grabbed the cigarette lighter out of her hand with such force that the blow knocked her to the floor of the shop.

What in the world’s the matter with you?”  she shouted attempting to scream in the man’s face as he glared down at her.

“ What do you mean, what’s the matter with me?’” he echoed in a booming voice which resounded through the now silenced shop.  “What’s the matter with you?  You trying to blow us all to bits?  Can’t ya see all these signs around here?”

“Yeah, I saw ‘em” the mechanic interrupted.  “Like how could I not see ’em:  They’re on every post in this place.  I had my hard-hat on ‘till you knocked the durn thing off when you grabbed me.  I oughtta charge you with sexual harassment.”

“Sexual harassment?” shouted the huge chemist.  “I just save your life and ya wanta sue me for harassment?  And what’s all this talk about your hard-hat?  Who cares about ya crazy hard hat ‘round here.  There’s nothin’ over your head but the ceiling.  Just get out of here and don’t use this area as a short-cut again.  Ya hear?”

“This isn’t the end of this!” the mechanic warned as she went back out of the door she had entered.

And it wasn’t.  It took several weeks, which cost several hundreds of dollars of management and worker’ time, for this to be resolved.  Finally, however, the mechanic understood that the “H” in the area where she had intruded did not mean what she had originally been taught it meant and thus she understood the chemist’s actions.  However to keep the problem from occurring again a “Restricted Area” sign was posted on the entrance of the chemists’ area to prevent any other possible misunderstandings.  Years later a general no smoking policy throughout the company’s buildings went into effect; though this was not a result solely from the “H” incident, it surely contributed to the decision.

This same type of thing occurred at the time of the building of the tower of Babel with one major difference: instead of the words which the builders of this structure changing over a period of time due to the convenience or whim of the people using them there seems to have been a direct intervention by the angels where they literally began teaching people different languages.  This can be seen when the Lord said to the angels that were with him to “Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other” (GEN 11:7).  The way this was accomplished was never disclosed’ thus there has been much speculation as to how God accomplished the miracle of confusion of the languages of this people who seemed so closely twined that they could have been working on such a project.

However if one considers the respect that the people of that area had for the things spiritual it becomes apparent that if one of them were awakened some night and told that the mud that they were using should be called “glunk” and many other words that though they seemed strange to him were none the less accepted because of their source.  At the same time another angel was speaking to the leader of those who were responsible for gathering the building materials and delivering them to the builders.  However he was told that “slunk” meant mud and “glunk” was water; just the opposite of what the other builder was told.

The next day as the work began the problems were immediate.  One of the “foremen” shouted down from where he awaited his men and demanded that they begin using the new words that the angel had taught him.  As the day drew on and the heat of the day became unbearable the tempers between the builders and the material providers became short.  Bitter arguments became apparent as disagreements  ensued over what their leaders had told them the new words were.

No one was willing to give in to the other’s point of view because their “foreman” had received his instructions from an angel of God.  Soon the “foreman” of the builders was standing atop one of the building’s platforms and asked the supply “foreman” to send him up a pail of “slunk.”  Dutifully the supply “foreman” sent him up a pail of mud believing that to be what he had asked for.  To this insult to a thirsty man the building “foreman” instantly turned the pail upside down with the mud delivered to him spilling over the other man’s head.

With incident’s like this occurring all over the work camp, minor wars between various parties began to break out.  Finally the various parties split up and formed into independent groups astonished at their inability to communicate with the others any longer.  With the inability to communicate to the others the building inevitably stopped.  The builders went one direction; the suppliers another, the hunters another and the farmers still another.  Thus did this city which they were building come to be known as Babel , for in it did God confuse the world’s languages. (GEN11:9)

But in Babel, too, was born that false religion where man worships man and neglects to recognize God.  Bel-Nimrod, the mighty grandson of Ham (GEN 10:6-8), the one who became as a god in his people’s eyes and a mighty one on Earth (GEN 10:8) because of his skill at hunting the wild beast and providing the people food (GEN 10:9).  Because of his being looked upon as being a great provider, Nimrod soon found himself in a position where the people looked to him for guidance instead of to God the Creator.

Within a matter of but a few years Nimrod became known as a type of miniature god under the indirect authority of the Supreme God, Il (or Ra) which could be said to be Elohim or Jehovah, Jehovah (Il or Ra) was said to be “… a sort of fount and origin of deity, too remote from man to be much worshipped or to excite any warm interest” (SGM pg. 73).  Because of this, Nimrod soon became known as the second member of a triad of gods with Ana, the first member at the top next to Jehovah (Il or Ra).

Who was this Ana?  George Rawlinson gave the following explanation in his book entitled The Seven Great Monarchies of the Ancient World:

His epithets are chiefly such as mark priority and antiquity.   He is called “the old Ana,” “the original chief,” perhaps in one place “the father of the gods,” and also “the Lord of spirits and demons.”  Again he bears a number of titles which serve to connect him with the infernal regions.  He is “the king of the lower world,” the “lord of darkness” or “death,” “the ruler of the far off city,” and the like.

(SGM pg.74)

It is not by coincidence this Ana is catalogued by ancient writers as the same identity described in the Bible as being Satan, for they are one in the same character under different titles.  The descriptions are uncannily parallel:

 “The old serpent” (REV 12:9—KJV)

“Ruler(s) of the darkness of this world.” (ACT 26:18; EPH 6as:-KJV)

“…A king of them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit….”  (REV 9:1100KJV)

“’Beelzebub’ which means ‘prince of the devils’.”  (MAT 12:24)

“Murderer” (JOH 8:44-KJV)

So now the picture becomes clearer.  Although many people would like to believe, in this “New Age”, that all religions worship the same God the Truth here becomes obvious — they do not.  Even Satan and his band of demons believe that there is but one God (JAM 2:19); but the object of Satan is for people to worship through him and to serve the purpose of returning the Universe to a state of nothingness as it originally began before God first spoke it into existence, even as the Hindus teach today.

Therefore, in order to accomplish this, he places himself between God and humans causing people to believe that God is “too remote from man to be much worshipped”  (SGM pg. 73).  He imposed himself as a representative of God here to accomplish Jehovah’s purposes, and intercessor between humans and God; while in reality he is an accuser of them, telling God of mankind’s unworthiness to enter the eternal Kingdom of God (REV 12:10).

Nearly all religions teach the worship of Satan under one title or another in this 21st Century, and through one medium or another.  Never, except for the Jewish traditionalists and most Christian and Moslem denominations, do they teach the Truth that there is only one God.

The third member of the trinity of which Satan is the intercessor, was called Hoa (Hes), Rawlinson described this being as follows:

There are no means of strictly determining the precise meaning of the word in Babylonian; but it is perhaps allowable to connect it, provisionally, with the Arabic Hiya, which is at once “life” and “a serpent,” since, according to the best authority, “There are very strong grounds for connecting Hea or Hoa with the serpent of Scripture and the paradisiacal traditions to the tree of knowledge and the tree of life.”

(SCM pg. 79; siting: Sir H. Rawlinson; Heroditus; Vol. I, pg. 600.)

Therefore Hoa (Hea) became the source of the knowledge of the difference between good and evil, that is the serpent, as mentioned in Scriptures (GEN 3:1-5).  He is the material application of Satan which teaches man the forbidden knowledge which he claims will give them the abundant life, knowing all the while that they are the cause of death.

Other titles Rawlinson found used as identification of Hoa (Hes) are “’the lord of the Earth’”, “’the king of rivers’”.’”(who) comes from the sea to teach the Babylonians’”; “but he is never called ‘the lord of the sea’” which title belongs to a lesser Babylonian god.  He is “’the lord of the abyss’ or of ‘the great deep’ which does not seem to be the sea, but something distinct from it (perhaps the ocean).  His most important titles are those which invest him with the character… or ‘the god of science and knowledge’, ‘the teacher of mankind,’ ‘the lord of understanding’” (SGM pg. 78-79).  It is once again important to notice the parallel between the descriptions of Hoa (Hea) and those of Satan, who is often mistakenly given the name of Lucifer by theologians (See Lesson #12.36.1 “The Creation of Satan”).

So here is Babel’s pantheon of gods wherein it does recognize that there is a source of all things but considers such a source “too remote to deserve much worship”.  Thus has it, instead, established the Spirit of Fear, Satan, as its god and it has followed that old serpent in the ways of darkness and destruction even unto the destruction of its own nation.

After the confusion of the languages began to spread the people of Earth throughout the lands, some of its people stayed there in Babel; but some of them followed Asshur, eventually establishing the kingdom which was named after him:  Assyria.  But because the Assyrians believed God had been unjust in the confusion of the languages, Jehovah (Il or Ra) sank to a very low position on their pantheon:  even to the seventh level of the gods; almost lost amongst the vast number of lesser gods (SGM pg. 359).  Taking his place, as the head of the pantheon, was Asshur (SGM pg 342) the founder of the nation himself.  Thus, eventually in the eyes of man, man became the creator of all things in his own power.  Now the Satanic triad of gods became Anu (Ana in Babylonian—Satan); Bel (or Asshur—the man); and Hoa (Hea—or Lucifer) (SGM pgs. 346-350).

Now the power of Satan really began to show itself.  Between 1300 B.C. until 650 B.C. these Assyrians controlled most of the known world (SGM pgs. 346-350). Being the longest lasting world empire of the planet they were not overthrown until the Babylonians, under the direction of Nabopolasser, overpowered them and re-established Babylon along with its religion and Nebuchadnezzar’s temple and statue (SGW, pg. 224-230, & 237).

Other forms of false religion developed during this period.  One, amongst the Medes, became known as Dualism (or Zoroasterism which was so near the truth that it caused many to fall into error and still does today through a filtering down of its basic concepts into today’s modern religions.  In its teachings, which became important at about 850 B.C. although it was developing even during the Fifteenth Century BC, came the idea that Satan was independent of and equal to Jehovah (SGW, pg. 78).  The pantheon had Jehovah, the good spirit (named Abura-mazda or Ormazd), directly opposite of Satan, the evil spirit (named Angro-mainyus).  Beneath each of these were a group of six lesser gods representing various characteristics of opposing sides of the good and evil spectrum.  Likewise, beneath these lesser gods are four more even lesser gods on Satan’s side while there was only one more, acting as a general, on Jehovah’s side named “Sarosha” (or Serosh, which could be a very loose interpretation for the “Rose of Sharon” (Jesus).

Finally, under the control of these gods were the thousands of malignant spirits found to be following either Satan (Angro-mainyus) or good spirits following Jehovah (Ahura-mazda) through Jesus (Sarosha or Serosh) (SGW pg 45-66).  Now this certainly seems to be a closely related theory to the correct model of hierarchy which most Christians believe; however, while being nearly correct it is also blasphemously wrong because it denies the fact that Jehovah has control over Satan and that the Devil must ask permission before doing anything (JOB 1:6-12).  Therefore Satan here sets himself equal to God:  an actual impossibility.  The nation of Media later joined with Persia to become a leading nation after overcoming Babylonia in 529 B.C. lead by Cyrus the Great (ABL front cover).

All other religions, except those derivative of Judaism, are branches of these basic, ancient religions.  Hinduism places Brahman (Yohu-mano) meaning “the Good Mind”, one of the Median immortal saints which sat on the council of Jehovah (Abura-mazda or Ormazd), at the top of the triad displacing Jehovah altogether.  Below him is Visnu (the preserver which is the role of Jesus, and Sivas (the destroyer) which Rawlinson says obviously came from the “infernal council” of Satan (Angro-mainyus) (SGW pg. 54).  This is possibly even nearer the Truth than is Dualism for it shows that good and evil work for the same goal of causing a person to worship God; however it places that worship on the “Good Mind” instead of the Spirit of Agape Love.

It may be argued that these (Mind and Agape) could mean the same until it is noticed that the cow (or cattle) is considered sacred in the Hindu religion and represents Braman which were at one time only a sacrifice to the gods of the Assyrians (SGW pg. 368).  And, when Moses descended from the mountain with the written commandments of God, he condemned the people from having set up a golden calf to worship (DEU 9:16-17).  Thus it is obvious that Jehovah disapproved of placing cattle up as objects of worships, thereby not approving of Braman.

Buddhism, as taught today+,  is in reality only an extension of Hinduism in which Satan (Sivas) becomes the supreme power of the Universe and the goal is to escape physical life and return to “oneness” with Watan (their god) never to see life again (that is physical life). Thereby having peace.  This is in direct opposition to true Christianity which says that the ultimate goal is creating a peaceful eternal existence out of life both spiritually and physically. They do this by allowing their animal spirits to “die daily” and asking that the Christ Holy Spirit be in control of their daily existence (See Lesson #12.27.5—“Buddhist’s Easier Road” — This paragraph revised in 2021 by author for clarification.).

Confucianism is ancestor worship like the majority of the false religions then to be patterned.  Tsoism, Shintoism, the Nomadic religions, and every other religion not directly acquiring its foundation from Judaism can be traced back directly or indirectly to the tower of Babel and the establishment of Satan as the god of this world, with the serpent as his physical spokesman, and Nimrod as his spiritual son.  Even many Christian denominations, as could be shown, have slipped into the trap of these unsound doctrines which place Satan equal to or more powerful than Jehovah.

The most important thing to remember in all this is that, although the people were actually worshipping something, what they were worshipping was not worthy of being worshipped.  What they called gods were only angels.  These angels, having followed Lucifer their leader, and having sinned against the true Creator, Jehovah; thus sinned against God by accepting man’s worship and began setting up their own kingdoms of darkness in this world. Woe to those who have followed these angles and called them their gods; they have received their reward.

After Media-Persia fell the glory of Babylon’s Satanic doctrines were promoted by Greece through it’s great destroying horn, Alexandra, and through its mystical pantheon of gods and goddesses.  And then Rome.

Ah, Rome!  It was to be the city which would never die.  It had a thousand gods but to the one who had allowed it to survive it had but one statue entitled “To the Unknown God” (ACT 17:23).

It was Rome which followed through with the Jews request to kill God’s son.  God’s only begotten son.  And then, when it saw it was about to be defeated by his followers it attempted to defeat the Kingdom of God by joining it. This monstrous nation then changed the laws and times to suit its own selfish purposes.  Then it, after proclaiming itself as being the Roman Catholic Empire, even it was defeated after just three and one half years (prophetic time) and finally God’s people truly tasted freedom for a season.

But Babylon did not yet die.  For it found a new home amongst the economists of the world who will soon declare victory over both the world’s governments and theologians silently in their own hearts.  Babylon has stuck its evil head up once again.  But because of its avarice and selfishness; because of its self-proclaimed intelligence and wisdom, it shall be brought down into utter destruction through the making of its own hands and its own evil intent.  It will be through its own mouth declaring that all people throughout the world must do that which they have been forewarned against for nearly two-thousand years that this mighty empire of the millennia will be taken to its eternal grave.

But a “New Age has dawned,” someone cries out; and thus it has.  Today there is a New Age dawning as never before.  Christians are pulling their children out of the government sponsored school systems due to the fact that they do not desire their children to be taught the religion of Baalism (though it not be called by that name) any longer without at least equal time given to the Christian God whose name is Jehovah.

Today there is a New Age of Christians rising up out of their easy chairs and speaking up about the injustices of abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, pornography and an unending list of inequalities throughout the world whether they be communistic, socialistic, or capitalistic.  Today there are Christians going into politics with the purpose of reestablishing government as God originally intended: that to be ruled by law, not on the whims of but a few individuals.

Today, yes today there is a New Age dawning. But it is up to those who are living today to determine which side of the path they shall walk upon.  Just ahead there comes a fork in the road and those who follow Jesus who is, even today ushering in this New Age, this Kingdom Age as the Christ shall see this age of peace which the world’s philosophers are prophesying to come to pass.

But those who seek another Christ; those who follow the ones allowing demons to used their bodies under various forms of manifestations; those who follow the worldly way of the Mystery Babylon and takes its mark will fall with her.  Thus will the angel proclaim that Babylon has become “a haunt for every evil spirit” that will fall and must be destroyed.

How will Babylon be destroyed?  Not by the raising of any weapon or any other act of violence by the true followers of Christ.  Rather it will be by the very act which Babylon believes will cause worldwide unity will it bring on her own destruction.  For by the fact that throughout the world Christians have read the words or heard this message that they should not take the mark of the beast, and have accepted this message as their Messiah’s own words; though many will, through fear take the mark; and though others will be duped into believing that it is the best thing possible for mankind including Christians; those who are truly Christ’s and who say “NO!” will be sufficient to cause chaos in the beast’s economic kingdom.

How? By simply following the angel’s instructions.  He says:

Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.”

(REV18:4)

Already noted has been how Christians have been pulling their children out of publicly funded schools which demand the teaching of the religion of Baalism (Humanism).  Soon, through the Christians added recognition that there are only two true nations of this planet, that of Mystery Babylon and the Kingdom of God’ they will need to continue the trend toward their separateness by stronger Christian business associations, Christian social organizations, etc. to protect themselves from the ever increasing influx of demonic influences which will be found in the non-Christian world.

The value of this can already be seen through the churches which have already proceeded toward this “coming out” like the Seventh Day Adventist, the Worldwide Church of God, and others.  They can be shown to experience better health and sometimes wealth than those still hoping that the world will someday see the light of Christ as a whole as the world marches into the millennium converted.  Scriptures say that simply won’t happen.

Then, when the beast declares that unless everyone obtains its mark they will not be able to buy or sell, the angel says the believers are to unexpectedly agree and “Give back to her as she has given; pay her back double for what she had done.  Mix her a double portion from her own cup.  Give her as much torture and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself.  In her heart she boasts, ‘I sit a queen: I am not a widow, and I will never mourn’” (REV 18:6-7).

When the beast declares that everyone must take this economic mark, the Christian (and all those who believe in there being only one universal God2017) must say, “NO!”  When it says that unless a person takes this tattoo economic trading will be impossible, the believers, regardless the denomination or faith, must resound together, “You say that unless we take your mark you will not trade with us.  Alright!  We will not go against our God!  Do not trade with us and through this shall God, having cast us onto the earth as a stone hewn without hands, shall destroy your kingdom.”

How would this be possible?  How could the believers by not trading with the beast defeat it?  Through a mighty ministry the Lord, God will pull the true believers in Jesus together and will cause them, at once, to stand up against this international economic empire and to say to it that if they desire not to trade with the believers because of not taking the mark then the believers will simply not trade with them.  With over 40% of the citizens of the United States being reported by the Gallup Poll in 1981 as regular church attenders (RIA pg 4-5), if only a quarter of these people had the guts and faith to trust God then the result of this refusal would be economic chaos in the world’s economy.  If trade does not exist between major sectors of modern society the system will collapse.

Since the economic society has refused to listen to the Christians who admittedly, through their wishy-washy attitudes have caused much of the problem themselves, then it will be necessary to use economic force to get these elite powers to listen.  By pulling out ownership of stocks and bonds, savings and other forms of investments immediately upon the announcement of the forced issuance of the mark; and by paying off any bills which could remain after the believers preparation for this event, the world’s economic centers would be forced, automatically to close. By not buying from anyone except truth believing merchants, the angel says that “The merchants of the earth will mourn over her (Mystery Babylon) because no one buys their cargoes any more…” (REV 18:22).

Within fifteen days, with goods flowing only through the network of believers which God will establish, the international economic nation will be brought to ruin.  With the stock markets closed, the warehouses filling up with unwanted goods, and groceries rotting in stores…

“The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her because no one buys their cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fin linen, purple, silk and scarlet clothe; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble; cargoes of cinnamon, and spice, of incense, myrrh; horses and carriages; and bodies and souls of men.

“They will say, ‘The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your riches and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.’  The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment.  They will weep and mourn and cry out:

“’Woe!  Woe, O great city dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls!  In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!’

“Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea, will stand far off.  When they see the smoke of her burning, they will exclaim, ‘Was there ever a city like this great city?’  They will throw dust on their heads, and with weeping and mourning cry out:

“’Woe!  Woe, O great city where all who had ships on the sea became rich through her wealth!  In one hour she has been brought to ruin!’”(REV 18:11-19)

(REV 18:11-19)

But the angel said to John:

Rejoice over her, O heaven!  Rejoice saints and apostles and prophets!  God has judged her for the way she treated you.”

(REV 18:20)

And then the angel, after casting in the nation, hewn without hands, proclaimed:

“With such violence will the great city of Babylon be thrown down never to be found again. The music of harpists and musicians, flute players and trumpeters, will never be heard in you again. No workman of any trade will ever be found in you again.  The sound of a millstone will never be hear in your again.  The light of a lamp will never shine in you again.  The voice of bridegroom and bride will never be heard in you again.  Your merchants were the world’s great men.  By your magic spell all the nations were led astray.  In her was found the blood of prophets and the saints, and of all who have been killed on the earth.”
